Can you believe it? For The Working Class Man has turned 40.
Originally released in December 1985, Jimmy Barnes’ second solo album spawned the hit singles (and his anthem) Working Class Man, I’d Die To Be With You Tonight, Ride The Night Away, and No Second Prize. In Australia, it debuted at #1 on the Kent Music Report chart, and landed at #3 on the year-end chart. It’s been certified seven times Platinum in Australia.
For The Working Class Man solidified Barnes’ solo career, and, from November 2025 until February 2026, he’ll celebrate the album’s 40th anniversary with a massive tour across the country.
The For The Working Class Man tour begins on Saturday, 22 November, at Mount Duneed Estate in Geelong, VIC, and continues at Sirromet Wines, Mount Cotton QLD on Saturday, 29 November; Bimbadgen, Hunter Valley NSW on Saturday, 6 December; the Regatta Grounds, Hobart TAS on Saturday, 17 January; Peter Lehmann Wines, Barossa Valley, SA on Saturday, 31 January; and concludes at Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley WA on Saturday, 7 February.

“For The Working Class Man was such a significant album in my life,” Barnes says. “I got to make the record with some amazing people, and it really set up the rest of my solo career.
“I’m so excited to be celebrating For The Working Class Man with some of my dearest friends and favourite artists. And I can think of no better way to mark this milestone than by performing these songs in some of the most beautiful and iconic outdoor venues across Australia.”
In addition to the tour, the milestone Jimmy Barnes album will be celebrated by Mushroom Music, which will be releasing a special 40th anniversary edition of the record.
