Note: We take no responsibility for incorrect tips
This year's Jägermeister Independent Music Awards are taking place at Melbourne's Revolt tomorrow night (Tuesday 16 October), so it's time to place our bets and put in our tips for the independent scene's night of nights.
As you'll know, Chet Faker has the most nominations (five) – but that may not translate into the most wins. In fact, Inpress' Bryget Chrisfield has tipped him for a grand total of 'zero'. Although here at theMusic.com.au we're not sure that her formula of 'if the band aren't coming to the awards they'll probably win' is totally foolproof. We think that the bearded soul-throb will get up for one, in the Best Independent Dance/Electronic Single, breaking the hearts of Flume fans everywhere.
The JIMAs have a tendency to pick out the underdogs, but the sheer prominence of 360 should nab him two awards in our opinion – probably Best Independent Artist and Best Independent Hip Hop Album. We're also going to go out on a limb and suggest that he'll be the only one to pick up more that one award.
The Jezabels are going to be hard to beat for Best Independent Album – a sign of things to come when they clean up at the ARIAs later this year? And Mushroom Group's favourite sons The Rubens are looking good for Breahthrough Artist – sorry Royal Headache fans, close but no cigar this year. We look forward to reading your thoughts on web forums Wednesday.

It's been a big year for San Cisco and particularly their overly infectious track Awkward – an upset for Best Single Or EP over Chet Faker, Alpine and 360/Gossling's giant Boys Like You is on the cards. Though House Vs Hurricane's record is great, so is DZ Deathrays'. The latter will come away with Hard Rock. And Hermitude's album is so fucking good it's gotta be a strong chance for Dance/Electronica, even if it is at the expense of Chet Faker – again.
Lanie Lane should have Best Blues & Roots Album in the bag, and we're tipping Mick Nock for Jazz Album. Finally, Warren H Williams is where the smart money is for the Country Album category.
So to summarise, here are the Inpress predictions against theMusic.com.au's.

Final note: If anyone talks through Paul Kelly's performance we'll kill ya.
