Hilltop HoodsIt’s official: Hilltop Hoods are the sixth South Australian act to be honoured with a City of Music laneway.
The City of Adelaide has confirmed that Clubhouse Lane, located off Hindley Street, will be renamed to Hilltop Hoods Lane.
One of Australia’s most successful music acts, Hilltop Hoods join the esteemed company of fellow grassroots South Australian success stories, such as Sia, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Paul Kelly, and No Fixed Address, in having a laneway named after them.
The launch and unveiling of Hilltop Hoods Lane will take place later this year.
“We love our city, and this gesture just connects us even further to the place that we call home,” said Hilltop Hoods’ Suffa.
The hip-hop trio have sold 1.1 million records and amassed more than 1.9 billion streams, achieved seven #1 albums, won ten ARIA Awards and six APRA Awards, secured the most entries on triple j’s Hottest 100, and sold out numerous arena tours—including their current Never Coming Home tour.
With hits such as 1955 featuring Montaigne and Tom Thum, Cosby Sweater, Chase That Feeling, Higher featuring James Chatburn, and I Love It featuring Sia, Hilltop Hoods have gone multi-Platinum in Australia.

Last year, the trio made history with their ninth album, Fall From The Light, after the record became their seventh to top the ARIA Albums Chart. They’ve since become record-holders for the most #1 ARIA Albums by an Australian Group, and fourth overall by any Australian group or solo act.
Lord Mayor of Adelaide Dr Jane Lomax-Smith commented that the laneway is a fitting tribute to Hilltop Hoods.
“From playing gigs at the Worldsend Hotel and Adelaide UniBar to performing in front of crowds of 50,000 adoring fans, hip-hop royalty Hilltop Hoods have helped reinforce a familiar Adelaide truth - that great talent starts local and can reach audiences across the globe,” said the Lord Mayor.
Lomax-Smith continued, “While they have entertained millions with their music, they have also shown young musicians cutting their teeth in South Australia that they too can end up on the triple j Hottest 100 and play some of the biggest stages across the world.
“It seemed fitting to add the band to our cavalcade of City of Music Laneways as they prepare to shake stages across the country, with their current national arena tour underway this month.”
