Aus comedy royalty and Netflix superstar Hannah Gadsby has announced a very special one-off show at the end of the year, which will see her finally returning to a home-ground stage before jetting off around the world.
The Nannette performer will take to the Joan Sutherland Theatre stage of the iconic Sydney Opera House this December, showcasing her newest comedy special Body Of Work.
The follow-up to her critically acclaimed 2020 special Douglas (which saw the star returning to comedy after announcing her post-Nannette retirement), the new show will be Gadsby's last in Aus for a little while - with a world tour set to keep her busy until mid-2022.
Gadsby has been all over the news recently after voicing her disdain towards Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos and comedian Dave Chapelle - owing to the latter's controversial comments on the Trans community in his latest special, The Closer. Chapelle went on to brand Gadsby as "not funny" during a defending of his defamatory comments.
Sarandos, who then used Gadsby's comedy as a reference point for the diversity on Netflix, hit back on Instagram, saying, "Just a quick note to let you know that I would prefer if you didn’t drag my name into your mess. Now I have to deal with even more of the hate and anger that Dave Chapelle’s fans like to unleash on me every time Dave gets 20 million dollars to process his emotionally stunted partial world view.”
Tickets for the Sydney Opera House performance are available for purchase from 9am this Friday, 29 October.
