The annual celebration is pulling out all stops for its 28th year
The annual Gympie Music Muster has stepped up its already considerable enormity with today's revelation that country-music golden girl Sara Storer will fill the role of this year's ambassador for the muster's Buy A Bale charity.
The charity, which aids drought-affected farmers, has found something of a kindred spirit in Storer, who grew up in rural Mallee, in Victoria, and consequently has developed strong ties to the land and natural world around her.
Fittingly, she and fellow Mallee native John Williamson were previously recognised for their 2004 collaboration Raining On The Plains, which called on the pair's real-life experiences in the face of hardship wrought by drought, and she has further touched on the subject in cuts such as the heartfelt Come On Rain.
Storer has had an exemplary 2014, netting three prizes – including Female Artist Of The Year and Album Of The Year – at the recent Golden Guitar Awards, which would be an impressive-enough achievement in itself without it having come off the back of a six-year hiatus.

Backing up Storer's ambassadorship is the news that the muster – which will be held from Thursday, August 28, to Sunday, August 31 at Amamoor Creek State Forest Park – has revealed several new acts on its line-up.
Now, alongside previously announced headliners Lee Kernaghan, Kasey Chambers and John Williamson and the event's first wave of acts, punters can expect to be treated to performances from Brian Cadd & Glenn Shorrock, Rusty & The Ayers Rockettes, US troubadour Scott Collier, Dean Perrett, The Experiment (featuring Luke Austen and Luke Dickens), Dozzi, Lazy Eye, Merri Creek Pickers, Stealing Lincoln, John Flanagan, Johnny Greenwood, Terry Clark, The ReChords, and Tanya Self. The event will also host the Champion Of Champions Showcase and the AICM Showcase.
