The gig will be the troubadour's final public appearance for the year
Venerated Indigenous Australian musician Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu has announced a last-minute gig at Melbourne's Corner Hotel tomorrow night, Wednesday 17 Dec.
The intimate show, for which limited tickets are on sale now through the venue, will see the lauded troubadour joined by support acts Sietta, playing an acoustic set, and Ross Hannaford, with renowned Shepparton-bred hip hop luminary Briggs — for whom Gurrumul featured on The Hunt — stopping in to make a special guest appearance for good measure.
The surprise show is a punctuation point on yet another year of acclaim for the legendary muso, whose highlights this year included not only his work with Briggs on The Hunt but a personal performance for US President Barack Obama when the latter was in the country for Brisbane's recent G20 conference.
Gurrumul's appearance at the Corner will be his last public appearance this year, so if you're not in the area or otherwise can't make it along, you'll have to tide yourself over till 2015, starting with a few repeat listens of Gurrumul and Delta Goodrem's gorgeous rendition of Christmas staple Silent Night.
