“It’s nice to be back, I’m well into our new tune, it brings back weird and scary memories of stuff that hasn’t happened yet.”
Gorillaz have enlisted world famous bassist and artist Thundercat for their newsingle Cracker Island.
The single is produced by Greg Kurstin, Gorillaz and Remi Kabaka Jr. and sees Murdoc, Noodle, Russel and 2D attempt to begin to fix the world.
In a press statement, the band have also encouraged fans to join a cult via a weird website, it reads, "he world’s biggest virtual band have relocated to Silverlake, California where it turns out that the answer to life’s question – the one truth to fix the world - is to invite fans to join ‘The Last Cult’, with Murdoc as it’s self-appointed Great Leader."
You can join the cult by entering your email address into the above website. 2D said “It’s nice to be back, I’m well into our new tune, it brings back weird and scary memories of stuff that hasn’t happened yet.”
The band are currently embarking on their world tour, which started in South America earlier in the year and is currently travelling through Europe. They'll soon be heading to Australia for the bands first visit in 12 years, performing at Splendour In The Grass as well as headline shows at John Cain Arena in Melbourne on the 24th of July, Qudos Bank Arena In Sydney on the 26th of July and at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on the 28th of July.
The band have gathered huge critical acclaim for their 2020 release Song Machine: Season One - Strange Timez - which features huge special guests including Elton John, Robert Smith, St Vincent and many more. The Feel Good Inc performers were originally tapped for the 2021 Splendour event, but moved their appearance to next year after the pandemic caused the festival to go online.
