The Gov’s Homegrown Showcase series is set to return this year on Wednesday, January 22nd.

The Governor Hindmarsh - affectionately shortened to “The Gov” by Adelaide locals - has been a mainstay of the Adelaide music scene for decades, having attracted major performers such as Billy Bragg and Paul Kelly, and having been inducted into the South Australian Music Hall of Fame for its contributions to local artistry.

The Homegrown Showcase series is an all-ages, inclusive event, kicking off from 6 pm at the celebrated Hindmarsh venue. The Gov has been running this live concert series since April of 2024, as part of an initiative to encourage and support up-and-coming local artists. Since then, the Gov has hosted seven of these events to massive success, allowing a plethora of young artists the opportunity to kickstart their promising careers. The shows typically encompass a whole range of experience - some acts have never performed in front of a live audience before, while others have experienced radio airplay and played extensively at some of the foremost venues that Adelaide has to offer. All of the emerging artists set to play are twenty-one years old or younger. To encourage an ample congregation of music-enjoyers, the event is free to attend.

The genre-diverse line-up for the night includes such names as Misnomer, Bugmeat, Happy Accidents, Emerald, Natalia Jewel, Andy Mck, James Pots, Tacenda, Datura and Grey-Matter. These acts hail from all corners of South Australia and are keen for a passionate audience to play to.

There are already more showcases in the work to look forward to - but The Gov is always on the lookout for more talent, so if you or someone you know fits the criteria to enter into a Homegrown Showcase, fill out the expression of interest form here.
