Despite having a busy touring schedule following the release of their latest album, Romance, last August, Fontaines D.C. have somehow found time to record new music.
Today (20 February), the Irish rock band dropped a teaser for a forthcoming new song called It’s Amazing To Be Young on social media.
In the video, a girl stares into the camera in a close-up shot. After the camera zooms out, it reveals that she’s actually sitting in the boot of a red car, pressing her hands against the rear window. As the car drives off, she remains in position as lettering comes over the video, with the title appearing at the end.
Instrumentally, the new track is more Favourite and less Starburster. It’s layered with acoustic instruments and anchored by a bright melody.
The band captioned the clip, “New. It’s Amazing To Be Young.”

In the comments, fans expressed surprise at the band already teasing new music, with some hoping that It’s Amazing To Be Young will lead to a Romance deluxe edition.
“New music already? Best news we’ve had all week,” reads one comment. Another fan wrote, “the devil works hard but you guys work harder,” and someone else said, “ROMANCE DELUXE??”

The It’s Amazing To Be Young clip arrives ahead of Fontaines D.C.’s massive Australian tour taking place next month. The band will perform at Golden Plains and Perth Festival, headline Yours & Owls, and play headline shows in their biggest Australian venues to date, including Brisbane’s Riverstage, the Sydney Opera House Forecourt, and Melbourne’s Palace Foreshore. You can find final tickets to the band’s tour via Handsome Tours.
Fontaines D.C. toured Australia for the first time in 2023 after their 2020 tour was cancelled due to COVID-19.
Reviewing the band’s performance at Laneway Festival 2023, The Music’s David James Young wrote: “Though they're not the scrappy upstarts of Dogrel anymore, that also means they're a well-oiled precision machine after returning to the road throughout 2021 and 2022 – as exemplified by the thrashing Nabokov and the baggy bass chug of Televised Mind.
“Plus, they've still got that dogrel in them: Big is as urgent and violent as ever, while signature song, Boys In The Better Land, serves as a standout moment of the entire day. Long live Dublin's finest.”
