26 August 2020 | 9:00 am | Jessica Dale

"I’m proud to be aligning myself with such a highly revered and artistically led label."

Rachel Jones-Williams has officially been announced as General Manager, Asia Pacific for label Dirty Hit

The UK label is currently the home for acts including The 1975, Wolf Alice, Beabadoobee, Rina Sawayama, The Japanese House, Pale Waves, No Rome and more, and have now expanded into the Asia Pacific with the launch of their Australian operation.

Prior to joining the group, Jones-Williams held roles as National Promotions Manager with Caroline and Senior Manager, National Promotions and Communications with Sony Music Entertainment Group, as well as working with Byron Bay Bluesfest, Footstomp Music, The Triffid and more.

“We are hugely excited to announce the opening of Dirty Hit Australia," said owner and founder Jamie Oborne

"This follows the launch of Dirty Hit USA which we have also now announced, Australia feels like the natural next step in the global expansion of the label. Our ethos as a label has always been to maintain and develop a roster of diverse and culturally important artists and an exciting and forward-thinking team with a distinctive identify, across a global sphere.

"In Australia, in the past year alone, The 1975 have headlined Laneway and debuted at #1 with their latest album, Notes On A Conditional Form. There have been tours from The Japanese House and No Rome and huge support for the launch of Beabadoobee’s forthcoming debut album.

"We are excited to build upon these early successes and have huge ambitions for the future of the label here. Having worked with Rachel for the past few years across much of our roster, we are delighted that she is joining the team and heading up Dirty Hit Australia. She brings with her a wealth of expertise and experience and is the perfect person to ensure we are offering our artists a truly global platform.”

"I’m proud to be aligning myself with such a highly revered and artistically led label," added Jones-Williams.

"I have a deep admiration for how Jamie has built the label to offer a secure space for artist development and I’m excited for what Dirty Hit can bring to this market, as well as what we can do for the local artist community as we look towards also building a domestic roster."

Jones-Williams told The Music that she's "very excited to get back to working with artists at a ground level in the indie space".

Dirty Hit will work with Ingrooves Music Group as their digital distribution partner as part of a recently inked global deal.
