Devo recording first album in nearly 20 years

Devo, who are best known for their 1980 hit "Whip It", have been recording new material for what would be their first studio album in nearly 20 years. The new record is being recorded with a line up of Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerald Casale supported by Bob Mothersbaugh and Bob Casale and Josh Freese on drums (Nine Inch Nails, The Vandals, A Perfect Circle, The Offspring, Infectious Grooves, Guns N' Roses).

Despite touring off and on since reuniting in 1996, Devo have not released an album of new material since 1990's "Smooth Noodle Maps". The band also plans to play some shows in 2009, including a SXSW appearance, a May 6th show in London where they'll play their 1978 classic debut "Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!" in its entirety, and an appearance at All Tomorrow's Parties.
