David Byrne, the iconic frontman of Rock And Roll Hall Of Famers Talking Heads, has announced his long-awaited return to Australian shores.
Byrne will visit Australia in January 2026 as part of a series of dates supporting his new album, Who Is The Sky?, which is scheduled to arrive on September 5th. The album is Byrne’s first since 2018’s American Utopia, which became his biggest commercial success as a solo artist, hitting #3 in the US.
Byrne’s Australian visit will launch on January 17th at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre, and will see him travel around the country for headline dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Perth.
Like his studio albums, this upcoming Australian trek will be Byrne’s first visit to the country since November 2018, when he toured in support of American Utopia. The record’s impact continues to be felt, with a Broadway production and film being released in the years since, with his forthcoming live show set to comprise of 13 musicians, singers, and dancers, including members of the American Utopia band.
Byrne’s new record clearly intends to continue his status as an acclaimed artist, with a press release noting that it “continues his lifelong exploration of human connection and the potential for societal unity against the chaotic backdrop of the world.”

Byrne first rose to fame as a member of Talking Heads throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, with the group officially splitting in 1991. Though calls for a reunion have been loud, and only grown louder in recent years, Byrne’s solo career remains his main focus, with collaborations with the likes of Brian Eno, St. Vincent, and Fatboy Slim peppering his eclectic discography.
Tickets to Byrne's tour go on sale from 1pm local time on Friday, June 13th. A Frontier Members pre-sale runs for 22 hours (or until allocation exhausted) from 2pm local time on Thursday, June 12th.
