She's the only new entrant on the Singles ladder for the week
Aussie singer-songwriter of the moment Courtney Barnett has achieved the only debut on this week's Singles ladder in the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts, with recent acclaimed single Pedestrian At Best stepping out into the world just outside the top 10 at #13.
The wider week is a fairly scant one for new faces as it is — on the Albums Chart, the only new entries come from up-and-coming country troubadour Tori Darke (Silver Lining, #4) as well as Mahalia Barnes & The Soul Mates, whose Ooh Yea! The Betty Davis Songbook, featuring Joe Bonamassa, skates in at #19, just ahead of Roland Tings' self-titled LP, which drops from #6 last week to the gatekeeper spot at #20.
There is some limited movement across both Singles and Albums ladders — on the former, San Cisco's Too Much Time Together takes a six-spot leap to get back inside the top 10, at #7, while Thundamentals' Something I Said, featuring Thomas Crawford, steps back into the top 20 to mark a 25th non-consecutive week in the charts; on the latter, upward mobility comes from Thundamentals once again, with So We Can Remember eking its way back from #10 to #6 this week, The Bennies enjoying a healthy bump from the cut-off, up seven places to #13, Ziggy Alberts' Land & Sea coming out of nowhere to re-enter the top 20 at #14 for its fifth chart week, as does San Cisco's debut LP, back in at #16 for week #49.
Interestingly, the most energetic chart this week is for Radio Play, which sees four debutants join the list: Hermitude (Through The Roof feat. Young Tapz, #7), Ecca Vandal (Battle Royal, #9), Flight Facilities (Down To Earth, #13) and Pearls (Big Shot, #17).
