The 'Pedestrian At Best' hitmaker is also a freshly minted SXSW award winner
World-beating SXSW buzz act Courtney Barnett has announced a series of new shows for her forthcoming Australian tour in honour of recently released (and widely acclaimed) debut LP Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit.
Barnett — who has just been named the recipient of the third annual SXSW Developing Act Grulke Prize, developed in honour of late conference creative director Brent Grulke — will now play extra shows at The Gov, in Adelaide, on Thursday, 30 April; The Bakery, Perth, on Sunday, 3 May; The Metro, Sydney, on Thursday, 7 May; and The Forum, Melbourne, on Saturday, 16 May.
Her existing shows on 1 May (Adelaide), 2 May (Perth), 8 May (Sydney), and 15 May (Melbourne) have all sold out. Limited tickets remain in Brisbane, where she performs at The Hi-Fi on Saturday, 9 May, and she gets it all under way at Wrestpoint, in Hobart, on Friday, 24 April.
Previous winners of the Grulke prize, which is awarded across three categories (US act, non-US act and career act) include Haim, The Flaming Lips, Future Islands and Damon Albarn.
