And that's why he is 2016's good guy.

More Coldplay More Coldplay

Considering the devastating toll music has suffered on the back of some of the world’s biggest names passing away this year, this story can give you some hope moving into 2017.

After playing to sold-out crowds in Australia earlier this month, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin again showed why he wins 2016's nice guy award when he surprised a homeless shelter in west London and performed a string of his band’s hits, as well as paying tribute to George Michael who passed away just last week.

According to the Telegraph, Martin turned up to the shelter with no fanfare and played for the homeless, volunteers and staff and also dedicated a rendition of Wham!’s Last Christmas to Michael.

The news comes just weeks after the 39-year-old singer invited a bunch of Aussie artists and producers to Coldplay’s Sydney show and afterparty after being wowed by a local songwriter initiative.
