After announcing their triumphant return earlier this month, Crowbar Brisbane have now released details on their first concert back in the Sunshine State.

Prog rock staples Cog are set to take the Crowbar Brisbane stage on Saturday November 30, as part of The Vinyl Tour. They’ll be joined by special guests HAMMERS and The Sea Benz.

Announcing the concert to Instagram today, Cog wrote, “This is more than just a gig….consider it your invitation to celebrate the re-birth of an iconic venue, and immerse yourself in the soundscapes that have defined a generation in what will be the final stop on the wildly successful The Vinyl Tour for 2024.”

In their own post about the event, Crowbar teased some other upcoming surprises, mentioning “a series of very special welcome back shows.”

“We are beyond excited to be re-opening in Brissy after 5 years away from home, and we're putting on one helluva party to celebrate! Bringing you some returning Crowbar Brisbane champions, along with our favourite acts from every corner to christen our shiny new stage.”

Crowbar announced in early October that they would be taking over the space of Brisbane live music institution The Zoo, following its devastating closure earlier this year.

The original Crowbar Brisbane, run by Tyla Dombroski and Trad Nathan, opened its doors in 2012 and closed in 2020 due to difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, the same team will bring The Zoo back to life.

In a statement, Nathan said Crowbar intends to “honour the amazing path” laid out by generations of The Zoo custodians “and continue offering great events for years to come.”

“As a former punter, band member, booker and promoter, playing The Zoo was a great achievement for aspiring bands. We’re excited to be able to keep music within its walls.”

Dombroski, who’s also a Board member of Sound NSW and President of the newly formed Live Music Venues Alliance, added, “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to work with the landlords, the Apostolos family, in maintaining the property as a live music venue.

“Our focus is to continue providing a great space for artists and music lovers while working with industry and government to ensure the survival of grassroots venues across Australia.”
