Morgan Wallen's 'Last Night' Holds Onto #1 In Aus For A Fifth Week

Is it now the last week at #1 for Last Night by Morgan Wallen, as his track holds for a fifth week locally?

Last Night also claims a fifth week at the summit in The U.S.A. this week, while his album is on hold at #2 in Australia and at #1 in both North America (9th week) and Canada (8th week), so it's possible that Morgan's song could hold again next week here, but he has stiff competition from the current second-week-running New Zealand #1 song by FIFTY FIFTY and Cupid, which here is on hold at #2 for a second week.

Eight of the Top 10 tracks are all on hold this week, with the newly certified at 4x▲Platinum track by Miley Cyrus and Flowers at #3, with the track losing the top spot in Canada after 15 weeks to the Rema and Selena Gomez track Calm Down, more on that track later. From #4 to #6 we see non-movers for Kill Bill by SZA, Boy's A Liar (Pt.2) for PinkPatheress and Ice Spice, followed by David Kushner with Daylight at #4, #5 and #6 respectively.

Ed Sheeran issued his fifth maths album (and sixth overall) called - (subtract) last week which lands at #1 on this week's ARIA Albums Chart, and this has helped the album's lead single Eyes Closed to rebound fourteen places and land at #7, one place lower than its initial debut and peak position of #6 from April 3rd, while the song now claims a fourth week within the Top 10. Two more tracks from his new album also appear within the Top 50 this week along with older rises too. Eyes Closed also jumps back up in England (6 to #3), Ireland (9 to #4), New Zealand (27 to #10), Canada (12 to #10) and The U.S.A. (45 to #38).

Luke Combs remains at #8 for a third straight week with his cover of Fast Car, with its parent album Gettin' Old dipping to #10 this week, after which is the only other movement within the Top 10 this week, as The Weeknd and Ariana Grande drop two places to #9 with Die For You, which has logged 11 weeks within the Top 10 and only ever appeared at odd-numbered positions (3, 5, 7 and now 9), while the eighth and final stable Top 10 entry is at #10 for Taylor Swift and her Anti-Hero, now up to 25 weeks within the Top 10 (the longest this week).

TOP 20

After returning to the Top 10 last week the Stephen Sanchez and Em Beihold duet Until I Found You (HP-8x3, WI10-7) is back down two places to #11, while that new Canadian #1 single for Rema and Selena Gomez with Calm Down is this week up two places to a new chart peak of #12, followed by a one-place dip to #13 for As It Was by Harry Styles, which is now certified 8x▲Platinum in sales, while the biggest fall within the Top 20 this week is a three-place slide to #14 for Escapism by RAYE and 070 Shake and the current UK (5th week) and Irish (7th week) #1 song Miracle by Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding is down one spot to #17 after peaking here at #16 last week.

TOP 30

Ed Sheeran's Shivers is back up a couple of spots to #22, while it rises from 3xP to now 8x▲Platinum in sales, followed by a three-place rise to #23 for Tiësto and Tate McRae with 10:35, while holding for a fourth week at #25 is George Ezra with Green Green Grass. Morgan Wallen's second Top 30 entry is You Proof, which rises back up four places to #26, while the new remix for People by Libianca (feat. Becky G.) helps the song to climb into the Top 30 for the first time, up six places to #28, plus it's now Gold (●) in sales too.

Making a return to the Top 100 this week at #27 is the 2013 debut single for Vance Joy and Riptide, which claims its 46th week within the Top 50 and also 144th week within the Top 100 (the longest ever for an Australian Act). The song first cracked the Top 10 in late July of 2013 rising to #7 on August 12th, while it would score a new peak of #6 on the 3rd of February 2014 after being voted #1 in the triple j Hottest 100 for 2013. The song would keep charting and return for events like Joy's ARIA Award wins in December 2015, his performance at the AFL Grand Final in October 2016, and then in March 2019 the track was changed to its full EP title God Loves You When You're Dancing which saw the EP return to the lower 100 in March of 2020 for thirteen more weeks on the chart.

TOP 40

Tyler, The Creator and Kali Uchis move up to a new peak of #31 this week with See You Again, followed by the former #1 for David Guetta and Bebe Rexha with I'm Good (Blue), which drops down five places to #32 and scores its first ever sales cert. of 4x▲Platinum, while on hold are both Heat Waves for Glass Animals at #33 and for a third week at #35 is JVKE and his golden hour track.

Double Fantasy for The Weeknd and Future falls nineteen places this week to #37, while down one to #38 is Tom Odell with Another Love, which is clocking up its one-year (52 weeks) within the Top 100. Ed Sheeran's Bad Habits rebounds six places to land at #40 this week, rising in sales accreditation from 8xP to now 10x▲Platinum, while in the lower fifty Ed is also charting with Perfect (60 to #55) and returns to the Top 100 with both Thinking Out Loud (#79) and Shape of You (#81).

TOP 50

Holding at its peak of #41 for a second week is the Sam Barber country song Straight And Narrow, with the other non-mover within this chart region being The Weeknd with Save Your Tears at #43. Falling hard and into the Top 50 are the latest Lewis Capaldi track Wish You the Best (23 to #44) and Drake with Search & Rescue (31 to #50).

NEW ENTRY

* #24 - Curtains by Ed Sheeran (Asylum UK/Atlantic) is the third track from the new #1 Album this week for Ed called - (subtract), following on from the current #7 entry Eye's Closed, and the track which debuted three weeks ago called Boat for Ed Sheeran, which entered at #99, and now this week the song (thanks to his new album at #1) has rebounded back into the Top 100 and berth's at #48, and according to ARIA's website the track was sitting at #362 last week, so that's a massive 314 place jump this week. The two tracks also chart at #15 and #16 in England, #21 and #23 in Ireland and at #23 and #25 in New Zealand (Boat then Curtains respectively). Ed's four-part docu-series Ed Sheeran: (+ The x Sum ÷ of = it - All), on Disney+, dropped last week as well, which goes into detail about many of his songs, including the inspiration for this week's new #1 Album - (subtract), his sixth successive #1 set in Australia.
