Charli xcx is preparing to launch her next musical era, and she’s surprising fans once again while she’s at it.

The Apple hitmaker announced the details of her upcoming seventh album, Music, Fashion, Film, on Instagram overnight (1 June). The album arrives on Friday, 24 July.

Charli surprise announced the album by sharing the album cover on social media without prior teasers.

The cover is a stylish black-and-white photo of The Velvet Underground’s John Cale, fashion designer Marc Jacobs, and legendary film director Martin Scorsese, representing each facet of the album title. The photo was shot by Charli’s frequent collaborator, Aidan Zamiri.

Along with the album art, Charli revealed that her forthcoming album contains eleven songs and spans “30 minutes and 5 seconds.” You can pre-order/pre-save the album here and check out the album art below.

Fans have already heard two singles from the album: ROCK MUSIC and SS26. The album title is pulled from a verse from the latter, where Charli sings: “We’re walkin’ on a runway that goes straight to hell / Nothing’s gonna save us, not music, fashion or film.”

Last month, Charli unveiled ROCK MUSIC, capturing the vibe and sounds of the 2000s indie sleaze era, particularly in the music video.

The Brat star teased her surprise musical turn in an interview with British Vogue, where she cited one of the lyrics from the new song: “I think the dance floor is dead, so now we’re making rock music.”

She added, “If I’d made another album that felt more dance-leaning, it would have felt really hard, really sad. What’s interesting for me is to bend the possibilities of what my perspective on that could be.”

ROCK MUSIC follows the release of Charli xcx’s recent Wuthering Heights album, which was spearheaded by her collaboration with John Cale, the ominous single, House.

But in 2024, Charli xcx went from being a cult figure to one of the biggest pop stars in the world following the release of her album, Brat, and its sister remix album, Brat and It’s Completely Different but Also Still Brat, the latter of which contained tracks featuring Billie Eilish and Lorde.

In February 2025, Charli headlined Laneway Festival in Australia and New Zealand.
