The emergent Brisbane band emerge as one of the first acts to secure new representation at the industry conference

Ascendant Brisbane indie-rockers Born Joy Dead have capitalised on the momentum afforded them by way of their successful new single Sourdough and their recent management deal by becoming one of the first acts out of BIGSOUND to secure a new signing, in the form of a booking deal with PS Music Group — and, pretty impressively, they weren't even technically one of the officially showcasing acts.

Yup, so thoroughly impressed was PS Music's Director, Will Watson, with Born Joy Dead's pre-BIGSOUND performance at Tuesday's Night Before BIGSOUND warm-up that picking them up was a no-brainer for the nascent agency, which recently welcomed many-membered Melburnians Sex On Toast to their roster alongside existing clients such as QMA winner Deena, Garrett Kato, Screamfeeder, Josh Rennie-Hynes, Cheap Fakes, Hound and more.

"It was an obvious choice for the PS team," Watson enthused to The Music. "We've been huge fans of the band since [debut EP] Stones In My Shoe came out; with our growth this year and expanded resources, we're in the perfect position to service the guys with our passion and expertise."

Born Joy Dead also popped up during the actual conference at Mucho Bravado, Control zine and Smack Face Records' BIGSOUND-edition Balcony Beers showcase at The Foundry on Thursday afternoon, alongside AUSTEN, Garrett Kato, Meredith, PYNES, Robbie Miller and Stevie.

The fresh deal will see PS take over all booking duties for the band, who formed around central figure and Hungry Kids Of Hungary alumnus Ben Dalton in 2014 and have been winning fans all over the shop ever since.

Born Joy Dead will release their second EP in the near future; keep abreast of their socials for new developments on the horizon.
