Blacktown’s cherished music store and music school Bam Bam Music announced it will officially close its doors after over 20 years of business.

In a heartfelt statement on the shop’s website, the owners Maurice and Melissa Mariasson cited that with their “current lease coming to an end, coupled with the rising cost of living and the recent loss of a beloved family member”, they have made the difficult call to close up shop.

Bam Bam Music has been open to locals since 2002, offering a collection of guitars, amps, strings, drums, keys, live and studio equipment, brass and wind instruments and repairs to music folk in Western Sydney. Bam Bam Music School has also extensively helped music lovers both old and young, beginner or pro, in upskilling in bass, drums, guitar, piano, vocals and violin through one-on-one lessons. The music school will finish its final term on the 21st of December, 2024, with the final closing date of the store still pending.

Over the years, the store and school has become a beloved part of Blacktown because of their dedication to upholding the arts within the local community.

“Bam Bam Music has been a home for music education and a hub for connection in Western Sydney,” said the Mariassons in a statement.

“For nearly two decades, our store and school have been a place where music has thrived, friendships have flourished, and countless memories have been created. From inspiring lessons to unforgettable annual concerts, we’ve cherished every moment with our incredible students and community,”

“To our valued partners and suppliers, we extend our sincere appreciation for your collaboration and support over the years. Together, we’ve been able to nurture a love of music and create something truly remarkable. Thank you for being part of our story and for allowing us to be part of yours. We will forever cherish the memories and connections we’ve built with this wonderful community.”

Customers shared sombre sentiments online in response to the store’s closure, sending the owners of Bam Bam off in the best way possible. One customer said “‘No’ was not in their vocabulary”, a testament to the owners undying devotion to customer happiness and satisfaction, while another wrote “Blacktown will not be the same without you”, a nod to the impact the store had on the community.

To mark their closure, Bam Bam Music is currently hosting a closing down sale as an opportunity to find a home for many of the beloved instruments and music goods left in store. Be sure to support this local business by checking out the sale online here and in store at Unit 2, 76 Sunnyholt Road Blacktown, NSW, 2148.
