Australians Still Buying Chris Brown Albums En Masse

4 March 2015 | 4:00 pm | Staff Writer

New collab album set to debut top five

Despite a controversy-plagued career over recent years, it appears Australian fans of US R&B singer Chris Brown are still as faithful as ever, with the artist's new collaboration set to chart highly this week.

Brown's new LP with fellow American urban star Tyga, Fan Of A Fan, is on track to land in the top five, possibly even in the top three depending on how the second half of the week's sales go. This follows on from the singer's previous album, X, peaking at four on the ARIA Albums Chart late last year. One of the Fan Of Fan's singles, Bitches N Marijuana will also debut in the ARIA Singles Chart this week.

Other notable albums to look out for this week include Led Zeppelin's Physical Graffiti, which should creep into the top ten, while current Future Music Festival act Hilltop Hoods are expected to move into the 20 with Walking Under Stars. Kelly Clarkson's new album, Piece By Piece and Purity Ring's Another Eternity will also land somewhere in the 40.

Lee Kernaghan's new Anzac charity track is also set to make impact on this week's ARIA Singles Chart. The song, Spirit Of The Anzacs, which features appearances from artists like Sheppard, Megan Washington and Jessica Mauboy, is expected to crack the top 20 according to midweek figures.

The song is one of a handful of new entries in the Singles Chart this week, along with soon-to-be-touring Ed Sheeran's newy Bloodstream, which is on track for a top ten finish. New Kelly Clarkson track, Heartbeat Song will also be a first-time entry, while movement will come again from Nick Jonas, whose urban-pop anthem Jealous should land somewhere in the top 20. He is headlining this weekend's Mardi Gras event in Sydney.
