Album coming March

More Lee Kernaghan More Lee Kernaghan

A host of Australian artists have teamed up with Lee Kernaghan for the charity single Spirit Of The ANZACS.

Megan Washington, members of Sheppard, Jessica Mauboy, Guy Sebastian, Jon Stevens and Shannon Noll all feature on the track, which comes from the Lee Kernaghan-driven album of the same name, to be released Friday 13 March.

The track — proceeds of which will be donated to the Legacy and Soldier On charities — is based on Paul Keating's eulogy at the entombment of the Unknown Australian Soldier.

“Mr. Keating’s immortal words, 'He is all of them. And he is one of us.' led us to write a song that pays tribute to all the men and women who have served and sacrificed on behalf of our country across 100 years of ANZAC history," Kernaghan said.

The record was written by Kernaghan and co-writer Garth Porter and features vocalists Lisa McCune, Sara Storer, John Schumann and Fred Smith.

“This is some of the most powerful material that I’ve ever had the privilege to record in my career," Kernaghan said. “The album takes you on a real journey, from the trenches of the Western Front to the bombing of Darwin, Kokoda, Long Tan, and the dust of Uruzgan Province in Afghanistan. It is a project that goes to the heart of who we are as a nation.”

The charity single is available for purchase here now.
