After seven long years away from our TV screens, fan favourite comedy Arrested Development returned in 2013 for a fourth season through Netflix and since then fans have been anxiously waiting and hoping that the Bluth Family would return in the form of a feature film or perhaps a new season.
And after teasing us back in April, producer Brian Grazer finally revealed on the Adam Carolla podcast that the show will be returning for a fifth season, with production to start early next year.
"Netflix is determined to do more episodes, so we’re going to do more episodes,” Grazer announced, adding that the entire cast and crew are on board.
Grazer also revealed that he only told the exciting news to show creator Mitch Hurwitz minutes before going on air for the podcast.
Production is set to kick off after Jan 1 and fans can expect to see a 17-episode season just four months later on Netflix.
The Emmy-award winning show originally ran from 2003-2006 on FOX before it was cancelled and upon its revival for the fourth season, scheduling conflicts for the cast lead to new episodes focusing on individual characters, however the fifth season will aim to return to its original ensemble format.
