Amy Shark has started teasing the “favourite song” she’s ever written.

Posting a snippet of her new track, Beautiful Eyes, on social media, the I Said Hi singer dons a Smashing Pumpkins cap and a comfy outfit as she sits by a picturesque creek, strumming an acoustic guitar. It’s little wonder why it’s a song she loves so much: the melody is stunning.

“If you spend enough time with someone, chances are you’re probably gonna fall in love,” she sings. “Maybe it’s the way they pick your brain, maybe you’re bored, and you need a change / Don’t hold back when your legs start moving”. By the time the title appears in the song, we’re smitten. You can check out the teaser below.

In the caption, Shark wrote, “my favourite song I’ve ever written, comes out soon. It’s called ‘Beautiful Eyes’ it’s been a while since a song has given me this feeling. Here is a live acoustic snippet from NZ. More to come but feel like you’re going to love this one”.

The Instagram comments reveal that the Australian pop singer’s latest number is already a fan favourite. Shark played Beautiful Eyes in Perth during her massive support slot for Coldplay.

In other recent Amy Shark news, the Gold Coast artist starred on the all-star album Mushroom: 50 Years Of Making Noise (Reimagined) and performed at the Mushroom 50 concert at Rod Laver Arena in November.

Also in November, Shark was an ambassador for last year’s Ausmusic T-Shirt Day alongside Budjerah and Jimmy Barnes.

In July, Shark won the Logie Award for Most Popular New Talent. Shark was nominated for a Logie thanks to her first year as a judge on the Australian Idol reboot, which saw her on a panel alongside radio shock jock Kyle Sandilands and international singers Meghan Trainor and crooner Harry Connick Jr.

She won the award over stars on the streaming giants Netflix and Stan, including Ayesha Madon and Chloe Hayden (Heartbreak High), Love Island Australia’s Flex MamiRuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under’s Kween Kong, and Surviving Summer’s Lilliana Bowrey.

In response to her win, Shark wrote, “Omg I’m a LOGIE winner”, celebrating the victory not long after she performed her latest single, Can I Shower At Yours?

The win arrived a month before she was forced to cancel North American tour dates due to requiring surgery and recovery time.
