Amy Shark, Courtney Barnett, Gurrumul & PNAU Lead 2018 ARIA Nominations

Congratulations to all the nominees!

Amy Shark has led the charge at today’s ARIA Awards Nominations event, with the Gold Coast singer-songwriter picking up nine nods for this year’s event.

Shark has picked up nominations for Apple Music Album Of The Year, Best Australian Live Act, Best Female Artist, Best Pop Release, Best Video, Apple Music Song Of The Year, Producer Of The Year, Engineer Of The Year and Best Cover Art. Shark was last year nominated for six awards, which saw her take home Best Pop Release and Breakthrough Artist.

Melbourne indie artist Courtney Barnett has been nominated for a total of eight awards for her second solo album Tell Me How You Really Feel and one nomination (Best Adult Contemporary Album) for her album with American artist Kurt Vile, Lotta Sea Lice. Barnett’s nominations include Apple Music Album Of The Year, Best Female Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Rock Album, Best Video, Best Australian Live Act, Engineer Of The Year and Producer Of The Year.   

Gurrumul has been posthumously honoured with a total of seven nominations for his album Djarimirri (Child of the Rainbow), including nominations for Apple Music Album Of The Year, Best Male Artist, Best Independent Release, Best Cover Art, Engineer Of The Year, Producer Of The Year and Best World Music Album.

Last year’s Best Dance Release winners PNAU have also been nominated for seven awards for their album Changa, including Apple Music Album Of The Year, Best Dance Release, Best Group, Best Independent Release, Apple Music Song Of The Year, Best Video and Best Live Act.

Tash Sultana has been nominated for a total of six awards off the back of debut album Flow State, while Dean Lewis and Peking Duk have picked up five nominations each and 5 Seconds Of Summer and Troye Sivan have four each. 

Angus & Julia Stone, Ball Park Music, DMA’S, Jack River, Mojo Juju and Vance Joy have been nominated for three awards each, while Alison Wonderland, Client Liaison, Dan Sultan, Gang Of Youths, Odette, RUFUS DU SOL and The Presets have scored two each.

This year sees the return of five publicly voted award categories, which include the Apple Music Song Of The Year, Best Video, Best Australian Live Act, Best International Artist and Music Teacher Of The Year. Head to the ARIA Awards website here to find out how you can vote.
