50 artists from around the country are working in some of Australia's best studios.

50 Australian acts are heading back into the recording studio this month on the back of new funding.

Thanks to American Express' $1 million Music Backers Fund, bands and artists will work out of some of Australia's best studios - including Studios 301, Forbes St, Head Gap and Airlock - with some having already begun last week.

The local names featured in the Music Backers Studio Week include Asha Jefferies, Georgia Maq, COTERIE, Andy Garvey, Mizuki and Georgia Dutton.

The artists will work on new demos alongside renowned Australian producers like  Simon Cohen, Rohan Sforcina and Anna Laverty.

Each winner has also received a "virtual mentoring workshop with an industry leader in artist management, producing and music media ahead of heading into studio."

The Music Backers Fund was created in August in response to the impact that the COVID pandemic has had on the local music industry.

“The Australian music industry has never been in greater need of support,” American Express Music Backers Fund judge and Live Nation CEO Roger Field said.

“The way the sector has rallied together during these challenging times has been encouraging to see, with many changing the way they do business in order to service and entertain their communities.

“Programs like the American Express Music Backers Fund are crucial to ensure we help the industry make it through recovery and out the other side.”
