The Australian Music Centre (AMC) has announced the finalists for the 2013 Art Music Awards, boasting a wide array of performers, composers and organisations in this year's proceedings.
The awards ceremony will be hosted on Monday 26 August at the NIDA Parade Theatre in Sydney and will be hosted by James Morrison, with performances curated by Genevieve Lacey.
The finalists are as follows:
For the Orchestral Work Of The Year award the finalists are: Andrew Ford for Blitz, Brett Dean for Fire Music, Ross Edwards for Full Moon Dances, and Carl Vine for Piano Concerto No 2.

For Instrumental Work Of The Year the finalists are: Damian Barbeler for Bright Birds, Lachlan Skipworth for Dark Nebulae, Mary Finsterer for Falling, and Gordon Kerry for String Quintet.
For Vocal/Choral Work Of The Year the finalists are: Paul Kelly and James Ledger for Conversations With Ghosts, Stephen Leek for Heritage In Song, Katy Abbott for The Domestic Sublime and Robert Davidson for We Apologise.
For Jazz Work Of The Year the finalists are: Marc Hannaford for Anda Two, Andrea Keller for Meditations on Light, Sandy Evans for Meetings At The Table Of Time, and Alice Humphries for The World Rushes On.
The finalists for Performance Of The Year are Andrian Pertout for Bénédiction d'un conquérant: for Symphony Orchestra, which was performed by The Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Frederic Chaslin, Sandy Evans for Meetings At The Table Of Time, which was performed by Members Of The Australian Art Orchestra and the Suthri Laya Ensemble, Gordon Kerry for Im Winde, performed by Trio Dali and Andrew Harrison for The Drumfire was incessant, and continued all night with unabated fury... performed by Zubin Kanga.
The finalists for Excellence by an Organisation are: Acacia Quartet for Blue Silence, Soundstream: Adelaide New Music Festival for sustained promotion of new music, Speak Percussion for their 2012 Artistic Program, and Tura New Music and the Australian Chamber Orchestra for the Reef Tour 2012.
The Award for Excellence by an Individual has the following finalists: Cat Hope, for supporting and growing new music in Western Australia, Danielle Bentley, for dedication and commitment to Australian art music and chamber music, David Young for 20 years of commissioning, curating and producing new Australian art music, and Zubin Kanga for Spectrum, a recital of newly commissioned piano music.
The finalists for Excellence in Music Education are: Gondwana Choirs, James Humberstone, New England Conservatorium of Music and Speak Percussion.
The finalists in the area of Excellence in a Regional Area are: Gondwana Choirs, Stephanie Harrison, The Wired Lab and Country Arts SA, and Tura New Music and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
The finalists for the award for Excellence In Experimental Music are: Daniel Blinkhorn, Decibel, Super Critical Mass and The Wired Lab and Country Arts SA.
The award for Excellence in Jazz has the finalists: Jamie Oehlers, Quentin Angus, Trichotomy, and Jeremy Rose
