The line-up for the third edition of ALWAYS LIVE – celebrating contemporary music taking place across Victoria – is here, and it’s epic.

Over 17 days (22 November until 8 December), free and low-cost live music events will take over Melbourne, Gippsland, Ballarat, Geelong, Bendigo, and other areas across the state.

More than 289 artists—impressively, 208 are from Victoria—will perform in over 65 events across the state, with 35% of the program taking place in regional Victoria.

In a Victorian exclusive, ALWAYS LIVE has locked in DJ Anyma in partnership with Untitled Group. Anyma is notably the first electronic artist to headline the Las Vegas venue, The Sphere, and for ALWAYS LIVE, the DJ meets visual art artist will perform at Melbourne’s Flemington Racecourse with the “largest screen in the Southern Hemisphere” to be built for the show.

Other exclusives include a one-off show from US punk rockers The Offspring, taking over Melbourne’s Forum Theatre (in partnership with Destroy All Lines), Irish pop-disco icon, singer, songwriter and producer Roísín Murphy at PICA (in collaboration with Summer Camp), three shows from St. Vincent at the Palais Theatre, Her Majesty's Theatre in Ballarat, and for An Intimate Audience With St. Vincent at The Aviary, Crown Melbourne, in partnership with Frontier Touring and Crown.

In perhaps the biggest exclusive of all, though, is Jack White, who’s returning to where it all began: the Corner Hotel. The venue where he wrote the iconic riff to Seven Nation Army all the way back in 2002, White will perform an unprecedented intimate gig at the Corner before playing another show at Ballarat’s Civic Hall in collaboration with Frontier Touring.

While a lot more international talent is heading to Victoria later this year, our local artists are also doing amazing things.

Tina Arena will be joined by co-headliner Richard Marx to celebrate the 30th anniversary of her smash hit album, Don’t Ask. Performing at the Mornington Racecourse, the performers will be accompanied by Daryl Braithwaite, Kate Ceberano, Southern Sons, and 1927 for a gig presented by ALWAYS LIVE and Face To Face Touring.

Missy Higgins will wrap up the 20th-anniversary celebrations of The Sound Of White and promote her forthcoming release, The Second Act, with special guests Dan Sultan and Mia Wray. You can experience the show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Friday, 6 December.

Meanwhile, in partnership with MG Live and Roundhouse Entertainment, ALWAYS LIVE will present two shows for the Live At The Gardens concert series at Melbourne's Royal Botanic Gardens: Chet Faker celebrating the 10th anniversary of Built On Glass, and an exclusive set by Tash Sultana.

On Friday, 22 November, BLAKTIVISM heads to Arts Centre Melbourne. Presented by Gaba Musik, ALWAYS LIVE, and Arts Centre Melbourne, Baker Boy will headline the event and will be joined by Uncle Bart Willoughby, Yung Warriors, Selwyn Burns, Amos Roach, Uncle Robbie Thorpe, Kulin Nations Songwomen, Deline Briscoe, Suga Cane Mamas, Tasman Keith, Brothers in Arms, Yirrmal and more special guests.
