Today, Spotify Australia unveiled its new Australian Music Global Impact List, which includes statistics covering the first half of the year.

The list notably recognises the Top 30 tracks from Aussie artists with the biggest global impact on Spotify users outside of Australia; only tracks released between 1 January and 30 June 2024 are deemed eligible.

Topping the latest list is Melbourne hip-hop artist Lithe with his song Fall Back, who was previously described as the “biggest artist in the world you haven’t heard of.”

Earlier this year, Lithe was the #1 artist globally on Reels (which you see on social media every day), with Fall Back gathering a whopping million streams a day.

In addition to topping the Reels chart in May, Fall Back received over 520,000 TikTok uses and features on 49 viral Spotify charts, including #14 on the Global Viral Spotify 50, #22 on the Australian Viral Spotify 50, and #19 on the UK Viral Spotify 50.

Fall Back gained over 800,000 streams on Spotify alone and amassed 360,000 Shazams, elevating the song to #12 on the Global Viral Shazam Chart. Last month, the star embarked on an East Coast Australian tour.

Five of the songs in the top ten of the Australian Music Global Impact List are collaborations, including Somebody (by Chris Lake, FISHER, Gotye, Kimbra, and Sante Sansone - a remix of Somebody That I Used To Know), Lighter (5 Seconds Of Summer, David Guetta, Galantis), Justice and Tame Impala with One Night/All Night and Neverender, and Sia and Kylie Minogue with Dance Alone. Another pattern spotted on the list is covers and remixes - you can find out more below.

Elsewhere, Royel Otis won over listeners with their covers: their rendition of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s classic Murder On The Dancefloor for triple j’s Like A Version (#5) and The CranberriesLinger for SiriusXM Sessions at #13.

The Kid LAROI—who topped last year’s Australian Music Global Impact List—also has two songs on the list (HEAVEN at #11 and Still Yours at #19), and so does Dean Lewis (Memories at #10 and The Last Bit Of Us at #17), and Lithe, with his second song on the list, Like We Wrote, at #28.

Other popular artists on the list include Tobiahs, Elliphant with Luude, Empire Of The Sun, Keith Urban, Dom Dolla, and Tones And I.

In a statement, Spotify Australia’s Artist & Label Partnership Lead, Leah Harris, said about the list: “Now that we are in our second year of publishing our Spotify Australian Music Global Impact List, it’s been fantastic to see how both emerging and established acts continue to make a big impact overseas.

“The latest list, topped by Lithe, is an excellent snapshot of local artists having an impact on the global stage. We’re proud to be playing our part in helping Australian artists be discovered by global audiences to gain meaningful career growth and viable, long-term success as a result.”
