The Golden Stave – a foundation supporting children’s charities through action in the Australian music industry – has announced the 2024 edition of its flagship charity lunch.
This year’s event will be held on Friday October 25 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Sydney (Eora), with welcome drinks being served from 12pm. The official theme is Back To The ‘60s, with a press release noting that it will feature “an outstanding lineup of talent with great live performances”.
As always, the gala will be raising money for children’s charities across NSW, adding to the $15 million raised by The Golden Stave over the past 15 years. Individual tickets (available here) will cost $300 with a voluntary $100 donation included, with tables of ten also offered for $3,000 (with a voluntary donation of $1,000).
The Golden Stave Charity Lunch returned last year after being sidelined amid the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Speaking to The Music ahead of the event, publisher Peter Hebbes (one of its co-founders) said: “It’s about fun, camaraderie and raising money for a great cause. There are no egos, we’re all trying to make a difference to those in the community who need it.”
In addition to the lunch, performances and pouring of fine wines, the Golden Stave Charity Lunch features a charity auction; at a previous year’s editions, a signed Rolling Stones guitar and setlist was sold off for $37,000, while advertising packages from radio and TV networks regularly eclipse $50,000.
