Ed SheeranAfter announcing that he’d departed his label home of 15 years, Warner Music Group, back in May, it seems that Ed Sheeran has signed a new record deal with Interscope.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that “sources familiar with the matter” confirmed the news, reporting that the Shape of You hitmaker has likely signed a long-term arrangement with Interscope, but it’s currently unclear how many albums Sheeran would be expected to release under the label.
The publication also noted that, with his reported signing to Interscope, Sheeran reunites with the label’s CEO, John Janick, with whom he previously had a relationship at Elektra Records.
Interscope is home to a roster of big-name artists such as Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, and Lady Gaga. The label is also owned by Universal Music Group—the world’s largest record label.
Neither Interscope nor Sheeran have commented on the news.

Upon his departure from Warner in May, Sheeran confirmed that there’s no animosity between himself and Warner by saying that the move “isn’t a ‘disgruntled artist leaves record label’ type situation,” and he left with “SO much love and gratitude for everything we have achieved together.”
Sheeran released seven albums through Warner, and according to Billboard, the label is set to retain his catalogue of hits, as well as the long-term licensing of his most recent albums, Autumn Variations, released in 2023, and Play, which dropped last year. Both albums were released via the singer’s own label, Gingerbread Man, and Atlantic Records.
Warner Music Group expressed its pride in supporting Sheeran “through his discovery and remarkable rise over the past 15 years” and gratitude for his long-standing partnership.
“As we steward his iconic catalogue into the future, we’ll ensure that his music will touch hearts and move feet around the world for generations to come,” the label continued. “Everyone in the Warner Music family wishes Ed the very best as he embarks on the next chapter of his extraordinary artistic journey.”
