Versatility doesn’t even begin to describe why Japanese DJ ¥ØU$UK€ ¥UK1MAT$U (Yousuke Yukimatsu) is one of the most unclassifiable, electrifying DJs on the planet. Based in Tokyo since 2020, Yukimatsu’s mastery of the CDJs is legendary — effortlessly moving through techno, breakbeat, IDM, ambient, leftfield bass, and beyond. No sound is off-limits, and every set is stitched together by instinct alone. His performances demand total surrender, forcing the dancefloor to abandon category comfort and simply feel the music.
Yukimatsu’s journey began humbly in Osaka, where he honed his craft while working construction. In 2014, he was invited to perform at DJ Nobu’s Future Terror — a moment that catapulted him into Japan’s underground elite. Two years later, a brain cancer diagnosis and subsequent tumour-removal surgery became the catalyst for leaving his day job and committing fully to DJing — a turning point that still resonates through every set he plays.
A former fixture in Asian Dope Boys’ celebrated durational TRANCE installation/performances, Yukimatsu is also the selector behind the acclaimed mix compilation Midnight Is Comin’ (Midnight Shift). His 2022 HÖR Berlin set amassed over two million views in under ten months, and his 2025 Boiler Room performance surpassed that mark in just ten days — a testament to his global cult following and unclassifiable sound.
In January 2026, Yukimatsu brings his rare, magnetic energy back to Australia. He’ll take over The Timberyard in Naarm/Melbourne on Saturday 17 January, before heading to Eora/Sydney’s Roundhouse on Saturday 24 January.
This is the triumphant return of a pure force of nature, a cultural landmark, a moment that will be remembered for years to come. Two cities. Two nights. Redefining what a dancefloor can feel like.
