Born into the isolation of the semi-industrial wastelands of 1950s outer suburban Perth, Kim Salmon clawed his way out of the swamp and onto the world stage in his bands, The Scientists, The Surrealists, and The Beasts of Bourbon.Often referred to as “The Godfather of Grunge” he is cited as a seminal influence on countless bands including Mudhoney, Nirvana, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The White Stripes, Sonic Youth, The Drones and Spacemen 3. Internationally acclaimed, Kim Salmon has played with the likes of The Stooges, Television, Kid Congo & the Pink Monkey Birds, The Cramps, Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, The Pop Group and even U2.
Kim Salmon's latest project, Smoked Salmon, features 12 players scattered over 2 countries. They have toured France, Japan, and Australia. Their self-titled 12-track debut album is coming out on February 28th.Joining him in this night of musical madness are two Novocastrian bands who have forged their own sonic paths in the local scene - Medheads & Howlin' Rats.Great Southern Nights 2025 takes place from 21 March – 6 April 2025Featuring 300+ gigs across Sydney and New South Wales.
