Continuing their showcase of improvised music, this time they will present 2 unique sets drawing on the pieces of the great composer/bandleader/pianist/poet: Sun Ra, as well as his collaborators. Each set will range from the intense tones of the avant-garde to the smooth modal grooves found within spiritual jazz.

Cosmos Ensemble is Peyo Pappadopoulos’ outlet for exploring the many dimensions of improvised music. In his Honours year of Performance at the Queensland Conservatorium, Pianist and Composer, Peyo Pappadopoulos is heavily influenced by the playing of Alice Coltrane, Pat Thomas and Andrew Hill. Cosmos Ensemble aims to continue building on the sounds of modal improvisation within the 70s, exploring fusion experimentations and ambient soundscapes.
