Melbourne R&B-rockers Neon Queen have had a pretty dang successful year, emerging from relative obscurity to release head-turning debut single 5AM mid-last year to spend 2016 hard at work touring and writing new tunes.
The newest taste to come out of the camp is deeply danceable new cut Real Love, the clip for which The Music is stoked to be premiering today.
The video, directed and produced by Danger D, follows the band through the back streets of Melbourne just after 5am (ha, we get it! … wait, that was an intentional throwback reference, right?), in that inimitable twilight hour between the death of the night and the dawn of the day, when all manner of mayhem and magic is likely to be bubbling away beneath the surface of otherwise serene and sleepy streets. In addition to Danger D's contributions, Real Love's clip features casting by J. Foxinatra and make-up from Jean St. Cloud.

The new song broadens the band's sonic horizons, seeing them deftly dabble in the arena of funk-soaked guitar and synth tones, driven along by disco-heavy four-to-the-floor rhythms and the powerful voice work of vocalist Oceans.
Neon Queen's clip for Real Love comes at the outset of a burst of year-ending shows, including their biggest home-town show to date tonight, when they support Sticky Fingers at Festival Hall.
They've also got a headline show lined up at Yah Yah's and an outing at Adelaide's Crown & Sceptre with Society Of Beggars before the month's out, rounding out the year at Moruya's No Worries Festival on Christmas Eve.
