Need some noise-tinged, lo-fi indie-pop to get you through the week? Well Brisbane-based Chakra Efendi has got you sorted, with the exclusive premiere of his brand new track Mia today on theMusic.com.au.
With a sullen yet uplifting soundscape, Mia weaves its way into the subconscious bringing mental health to the forefront.
"The ‘Mia’ addressed in the track isn’t about any person in-particular, but is the human embodiment of mental illness," Efendi said of the track.
"I wrote this song to show that mental health issues can harm people mentally and physically, just as a real person could.
"We all struggle from time to time and it’s important to talk about our problems and not keep quiet, although I feel as if topics regarding mental health are generally tiptoed around by the mainstream media and that conversations aren’t had due to it’s preconceived ‘taboo’ reputation.
