PREMIERE: New Dub City - Bass Not Bombs (Mikal)

Global-minded Melburnian reggae/dub/hip hop/dancehall group New Dub City have been honing their distinct, deep and diverse music for more than six years now, and the stalwart outfit are now set to unveil a brand new video set to a track from their fourth album, Urban Cleansing.

Although the album actually arrived in late November, the band — led by producer and frontman Ali MC, the man behind New Dub City's label, Raspect Records, and a key driver and producer for the Western Desert's Indigenous dub label, Manta Tutura — has just released the video for their track Bass Not Bombs, produced by Mikal.

Set against footage that appears to have come from the educational archives of the peak industrial and nuclear era, the track is indicative of the wider hallmarks to which Ali MC prescribed while piecing together the album, which he bills as a "collection of bass-heavy remixes of global beats and tribal rhythms from the streets of Bristol and the slums of Haiti to the red dirt of remote Aboriginal communities".

The album uses existing New Dub City tracks — from 2011's Home and 2013's Tap Tap — as the base for its remixes, with Ali MC having locked down guest appearances from the likes of Precise, Abe Nouk, Voodoo Dred and Daniel E, with producers lending their flair including Ghostsoul, Missile, Mikal, Lion Empire, DJ Ceiba, U-Wish, Konvxd and Major Delay
