Briefly describe your show. The show is a powerful performance of music, culture and storytelling. It consists of a five-piece band which collectively brings together an energy of positive vibrations and empowerment through an energetic live experience.

What was the inspiration behind your show? The inspiration behind the show is my life’s journey in music and artist expression, combined with the two cultures that define me: my Torres Strait Islander heritage and the culture of hip hop. Both cultures have been a significant influence on my storytelling and progressive development. As an artist I am fascinated with the creative interpretation of different mediums of expression. It is with this fascination I developed a performance I believe audiences would love to experience.

Briefly describe the development process of your show? Tell us a bit about your creative team, too. The development process of this show was a journey in finding myself as an artist. I wanted to create a performance that would give the audience an insight to my journey through the cultures that guided me, while giving them a powerful performance of the musical art form that inspires me. It has been a gradual process and I have been fortunate to work with a great team in developing this performance. Mike Justice of Meridian Nights has been the driving force behind the collaboration of the musical direction as well as the major support in the development of this performance. DJ J Funk brings the element of fun and focus with his skills on the turntables. Joey Laifoo is a traditional Torres Strait Islander dancer and choreographer: the powerful element of Torres Strait culture is the backbone of this performance. Shirley Davis with her powerful soulful voice brings an soulful energy that takes you on that emotional journey. This is the team that makes this performance a powerful and inspirational experience.

Why did you decide to do Fringe 2015? And have you been involved in previous/interstate Fringe festivals and how was the experience?
A) I have never had the opportunity to perform at the Fringe event; and B) the fact that; upon researching the festival, it looked like a perfect event for people to experience new artistic expressions and performances. Since the release of my debut album, I have never had the opportunity to perform in Adelaide, and this looked like the perfect festival to be a part of to share my art, music and performance.

What makes a good Fringe show? What do you personally look for from the perspective of an audience member? As an audience member who likes to experience different live shows, a good show to me is a performance that takes me on a journey, leaves me inspired and connects with me on some emotional level. These points are the core experiences I look for in a show, and on an artist level I try to deliver these experiences every time I perform.
