Full Flower Moon Band have carved a bold path through Australia’s rock scene, starting with small-time studio projects to coming full-bloom as a feature in every major music source, playing some of the country’s biggest venues and beginning to venture internationally.

Last year was a particularly big year for the band, with showcases at BIGSOUND and winning the esteemed Grant McLennan Fellowship at the QMusic Awards, allowing lead singer Kate Babyshakes DillonHerrington to travel to New York to hone her songwriting,

Following their acclaimed second album, Diesel Forever, which fueled an 18-month tour, the band have polished their rock sound to a tee on their latest project, Megaflower.

Known for their gritty riffs and satirical lyrics, Full Flower Moon Band's music blends hedonism with introspection, echoing the spirit of rock legends like David Bowie

“When you think about Full Flower going 'mega', don’t think harder and heavier,” Dillon says. “Think bigger – in every way.

Megaflower explores themes ranging from existential musings (Illegal Things) to human sensuality (Man Hands), with Babyshakes' distinctive vocals and the band's dynamic instrumentation piecing the project together.

SUPER LIKE ME

The ‘Tinder Gold subscription’ is $42.99 per month. I have only ever seen desperate men use this function. [In] this song, I’m saying that your dad has super liked me, you feel shame, I feel nothing. Written after being super liked.

ILLEGAL THINGS

What is in heaven? If the stories are true, all the experiences you could ever want would be allowed there with zero risk, it seems. Written while depressed.

COWBOY

I’m not a cowgirl; I’m a cowboy, ready to pounce. I live a simple life, but I get emotions that overwhelm me when you are around. I’ll show you hospitality and be polite, but I have needs I can’t explain. Written while recording on a farm. The cowboy who owned the property would visit but never stay. Erotic fiction novel.

DEVIL

Better the devil you know than the devil you don’t.

BABY

Sometimes you have to ask yourself, could life be better for us, my love? Are we really living? What would we be doing if we weren’t broke and dysfunctional members of society?

Written while dating a deadbeat stoner.

ENEMY

There are quintessential truths to the physicality of life. If you want green tea, you can’t make it without green tea leaves. You either have access to a physical object, or you don’t. This is how people die: needing something heavy to break open a window in a burning house or something that floats while you are in the middle of the ocean. If it’s not that thing, it’s not there.

Here, I am saying that my mind is so powerful that I can make an idea, a philosophy, as absolute as a physical object. My ability to ‘make an enemy out of anything’ is as absolute as a 24-carat diamond ring. “Here comes the hard sell, it’s all natural. Come and get some action in it, the package comes all completed”. Let me teach you the craft.

WEST SIDE

West Side has always been a track that bridges our last album, Diesel Forever, and into a new era of bigger, bolder production. We worked and re-worked this track, and now it has the essence of a rock song, but structurally it’s unusual. When I first gave the band chord charts and the ‘rap section’ was written on the page, we all knew we weren’t playing it safe. I love that the first thing audiences heard me sing after two years is, ‘I was hoping motherfucker call me back’. So pick up, Full Flower Moon Band’s on the line.

MAN HANDS

An ode to the sensuality of men’s hands. If you haven’t been held in his arms yet, they are like untouchable artworks while he’s doing the simplest of things. Those big hands using a gear stick, using a phone. I like to play dumb just to get the chance to watch him use them. Written while spending too much time with a crush who just wanted to be friends.

COME & BE

I’m begging you, please decide if you want to be with me. If you want me right now. I’m begging you, please don’t make me beg. Written while waiting too long for a man to love me.

ALPHA

You’re in a dark club; the energy is sinister. I say to you, if you are here, you have already engaged in a violent hierarchy. Leaving is not an option. Now that you are here, you either attack or be attacked. For the illusive alpha to remain, we need to know how strong you are.

“If you are sitting in the background, you’re sitting after five rounds”.

KISS HIM

Kiss him goodbye… but it isn’t really goodbye… you get the jist. This was recorded with JB Paterson. We love to finish rock albums with quiet songs.
