Marvel Crew Member Dies On 'Wonder Man' TV Series Set

In tragic news, a crew member on the set of the Marvel TV series Wonder Man has died following an accident, Marvel has confirmed.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 5th, at Radford Studio Centre in Los Angeles, where a rigger fell from the rafters while working on the miniseries.

The production was temporarily halted, and the LAPD is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate death, though they added that there’s “no suspicion of foul play”.

The crew member has since been identified as 41-year-old Juan Carlos Osorio from Temple City, with Marvel releasing a statement expressing their condolences over the man’s death.

"Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends," the company said in a statement to Deadline. "And our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident."

It's worth noting that the production of the show was not in progress during the mentioned incident due to delays caused by the strikes from the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and the Screen Actors Guild‐American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA).

The forthcoming Disney+ series, Wonder Man, features Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, known for his roles in Aquaman 2, The Matrix Resurrections, Us, The Trial of the Chicago 7, and The Greatest Showman, has been cast as the series lead, Simon Williams, who transforms into the titular superhero.

Additionally, Ben Kingsley will be joining the cast, reprising his role as Trevor Slatter from Iron Man 3. The series is in the early stages of production, with acclaimed director Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, at the helm. Cretton is collaborating with writer Andrew Guest (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) to bring Wonder Man to life on the small screen.

Wonder Man is part of an overall deal that director Destin Daniel Cretton signed with Marvel Studios and Hulu's Onyx Collective back in 2021. The series is currently under development, and its premiere date on Disney+ is yet to be announced.
