More The New Savages More The New Savages

2016 was a massive year for Melbourne country-blues outfit The New Savages. While wearing down the carpet on three national tours, clocking 100 shows, they managed to record their second EP Goin' Over The River, which received a nomination for Best Blues Album at The Age Music Victoria Awards. By the end of the year they had recorded their third EP and organised a 33-date national tour for 2017, which will kick off with their single launch at Retreat Hotel on 17 Feb.

Lead singer and guitarist Milan Milutinovic explains that, "everything we record has to go through the road test." Their latest single I've Lost My Little Girl was bashed out a few times while on the road before being laid down, "at Cubcave Studios with Damien Sutton. He's built a studio in his garage. We work with him on everything we record and we've grown a lot together. I like to think of him as our own little George Martin, and his studio as our own Sun Records," laughs Milutinovic. "I've always loved the aesthetic of recordings being live. This one was actually done in a single take I think. Damien gets a bit obsessed with perfection. I think we struck a good balance for this record. It's important to not be too ideological. There's value to both approaches."
