"Love One is based around four songs - four seasons, one story."
Combining the talents of two of Melbourne's favourite South-side performers, Love One approaches an interesting concept. "Haunting, swampy, country, pop, driving, sweet [and] sad" all at once, the EP is the debut joint effort of Delsinki Records (Craig Johnston) and Brooke Taylor and over the course of four songs attempts to explore the course of a failed relationship.
"Love One is based around four songs - four seasons, one story. The songs are a musical journey of a relationship and the different seasons therein," says Taylor. So which season is Taylor's favourite? "Autumn. It's the first of the four songs written and was such a great starting point for the rest of the EP. It really does get stuck in your head," asserts the singer-songwriter.
"Both [of us] perform locally in St Kilda on a weekly basis, and often got to road test the songs in front of different crowds. So far Autumn gets the best response."

The St Kilda locals have been playing locally, nationally and internationally for the last decade. Having similar taste in music and a passion for songwriting, Love One was a fun and natural project for the two, though you shouldn't mistake enjoyment for glibness. "Doing justice to the songs and to the concept of the EP was really important," says Taylor. "Making sure all voices/instruments were heard, and working together to tell a familiar story that pretty much anyone can relate to."
Fortunately they weren't alone in their mission. "The EP was recorded at Station Place Studios with Producer Cameron McKenzie. Each track features different artists from varying backgrounds including Cirque du Soleil percussion to members of the Melbourne Ska Orchestra.
"Cam McKenzie is an excellent producer and has an incredible ear."
