“It was a heap of fun."
Sydney rock’n’roll trio Tshitaki went back to basics when recording their new album, World Keeps Turning.
Premiering today via The Music, the group’s new LP was recorded at a studio they built in vocalist Nik Phillpot’s factory in Narrabeen; an experience he described as “a massive learning curve”.
“Once done it really gave us the flexibility to space out our sessions and hone in on the songs, the structures and all their different parts,” Phillpot told The Music.
“It was a heap of fun, we did all the tracking ourselves and then got my old friend Lachlan Mitchell to sprinkle his magic to the mix. I love to listen to albums from start to finish and be taken on some sort of album journey, we have done our best to try and achieve this on World Keeps Turning and I think that journey comes across.
“The songs are mostly a collection from the last couple of years, there’s a full spectrum of light and dark on there while still holding on to that fuzzed wall of thumping melodic ear candy.”
While Tshitaki have been forced to cancel their album tour, Phillpot said the band will be “back on stage as soon as it’s possible”.
