"I’m busy, but organised. I say ‘no’ to a lot more now, which is hard sometimes but necessary to keep moving forward.”

As this interview takes place, Nina Las Vegas is lying on her bed in her running gear, “trying to find the energy to go for a run.” With her ridiculous schedule, which includes hosting triple j's fresh club joints and party jams show, House Party, constant touring nationally, being a part of Sydney supergroup girl DJ trio HOOPS alongside Anna Lunoe and Bad Ezzy, and helping grow the Heaps Decent camp, it's no wonder the sassy lass is struggling to find the energy to go for a run.

“[I] get in around 10am, leave around 6pm,” Las Vegas says of her average triple j day. “I work pretty hard; however, I have coffee with Lew Lew and Passy, our video guy, every morning and we have hummus and carrot breaks. I'm busy, but organised. I say 'no' to a lot more now, which is hard sometimes but necessary to keep moving forward.”

One project she's proud to be involved in is Heaps Decent. Established in 2007 by Las Vegas herself, fellow Sydney DJ Andrew Levins and American DJ and producer Diplo, Heaps Decent runs workshops in remote communities and offers ongoing music programs at schools, juvenile justice centres, drop-in centres, studios and much more. “Heaps Decent is growing,” she admits excitedly. “It's constantly exciting and I'm always very proud to be part of it. I'm on the board now as I work full-time but I'm trying to make a bit more time for workshops in the New Year.”

For the last couple of years triple j has successfully put on the Triple J House Party National Tour, which has seen the likes of Flight Facilities, Cassian, Wave Racer, Flume, Beni and more drop fresh beats and party tunes alongside Las Vegas. “Of course, I'd love to see them continue. I mean a club tour that sells out with only Australians on the lineup? Phoar. That should definitely keep going.”

With the Triple J House Party National Tour paving the way for the aforementioned artists, it's no wonder Las Vegas has Wave Racer in her list of artists whom she predicts will kill it next year. “Twenty-fourteen will be the year of Wave Racer, Oscar Key Sung, Motez and Emoh Instead,” she predicts. “Having said that, people like ShockOne, Aston Shuffle and Bag Raiders will be coming back with second albums; I'm excited for those releases too!.”

But, before 2014 hits, there are a few more shows to pump through – three of which are here in good ol' WA. “I love Perth,” she says. “The shows, my Perth friends, the weather. You can expect the usual [at the gigs] aka a stupid amount of tempo changes and dancing around.” But, with the Blue Juice boys joining Las Vegas for two of her upcoming Perth shows, there's sure to be some party revelling. “What happens on tour, stays on tour,” Las Vegas concludes, laughing.
