Video: Adria - Pull Me Under
Is the next Lorde this 18 year old girl from Perth?. (Almost) 18 year old Perth singer Adria has hit the ground running with the premiere video of the first single off her debut EP - Pull Me Under. The EP's taken Adria to Europe and back, where it got the golden touch from Lykki Li producer Viktor Balter-Lundin, and the man behind Lorde and Florence and the Machine, Matthew Wiggins. The Pull Me Under clip, shot in black and white, is a sombre, sensual powerful couple of minutes of viewing, laden with dark shadows, water imagery, clever visual trickery and sensual close ups of the transfixing Adria, whose not a bad dancer, either. It was shot by Jason Eshraghian, a 20 year old Perth based filmmaker. It's a strong and assured debut track: while Adria's voice, upon first listen isn't as big or billowing as say, Hannah Reid's from London Grammar, or Florence Welch's, there's a lot of BANKS-like potential in her cool and smoky timbre, which rises to the occasion each chorus. Pilerats X-Mas Party Guide
A Pilerats Pocket Dictionary Guide to the Pilerats X-Mas Party.. You might have heard the phrase ‘salad days’ bandied about before when people are describing times of youth and wildness. We decided that, here at Pilerats, as content-creators we are what you eat, and if Pilerats were a musical salad and these are your wild and youthful salad days, we’d like to make sure that as well as being comprised of lettuce leaves (well-known tunes and artists we love) - which are the base of any good salad – that we have some wilder salad ingredients thrown in from time to time, because we like flexing our individuality and discovering new weird crunchy unconventional things amongst the lettuce. Like pepitas. Or peanuts. Or pear. To wit: we’re merging districts with I.C.S.S.C. for a Christmas death match party (event HERE), and we’ve programmed some more forward-thinking salad ingredients to make your night extra wild. Get to know them via our Dictionary definitions below, and grab your cheaper pr

No Money Weekend
Welcome to your $0 weekend.. Just cause your bank account’s in the negative doesn’t mean your weekend’s gotta be a drag. Here's our guide on how to extract the mostest fun on the leastest money.   Header Image: Lukasz Wierzbowski LET MEI MOVE YOU Hands down the best thing you’ll spend a fiver on all weekend. Yep, it’s not free, but it’s cheap-as, and it’s worth every cent. One of Perth’s most captivating and soulful female singers, Mei Saraswati (whom you might have seen totally destroy the Boiler Room in her other act, Savoir - check out new music from those guys here), has assembled a super group of talented Perth musicians to back her (already brilliant) solo compositions. You’ll also get to check out the loose, spaced-out experi-funk/disco of Cosmo Gets, who have a new live show, replete with trippy visuals and alien vocoders, that absolutely rules. Sat Nov 22, 8pm – 12am, The Bird, 181 William Street, Northbridge. $5. “Dress breezy”. Event HERE. Above: Mei Saraswati (photo by Amb

Skrillex Selects Slumberjack
The banger-machine has been vibing on Perth duo Slumberjack.. We're not sure what's bigger news this week - that Skrillex just performed a Celine Dion cover on a grand piano on Diplo's boat party in the Carribean, or that young Perth producers/Wonderland local headliners Slumberjack just had their track Body Cry feat. Father Dude (the first from an upcoming EP release) hand-selected by the internationally renowned Skrillex to feature on his Top 10 Tracks on his Skrillex Selects Soundcloud. The second one is definitely more exciting to us... and means huge exposure for Perth's electronic music scene - although Skrillex does have a quite nice voice.   On top of Skrillex's heckers tour schedule (that in the last few months has seen him play huge festivals Coachella, Hard Summer, Ultra Festival, the Mad Decent Boat Party, and will very soon see him jet around Australia for Stereosonic Festival), the producer otherwise known as Sonny Moore is widely regarded for his taste making and talent-

Vices Party
We give you the lowdown on Beaufort Street Festival's big Kahuna; StreetX reveal their Top 5 Vices.. Are you a trendsetter? Are you a gogetter? Do you know better (but you do it anyway)? If the answer is yes to any of the above, then come and claim your spot at Vices, the tropical throw-down at Mt Lawley’s Astor Theatre this Saturday. Bad Vacation/Flamingos, Lab Six and Street X have all been on their grind putting this thing together. Vices will be a refreshing party microcosm in the Beaufort Street Festival party macrocosm, where dog shows, crochet bombs and 'live street art' reign supreme. Vices. Island vibes. Much island vibage. They’re going to transform the whole place into some type of South Pacific paradise. We're hoping all the trill boys will swap out their bucket hats for cute li’l sailor boating hats. SURELY all the trill girls will be wearing coconut bras made out of the shells of the coconuts that StreetX will be extracting coconut juice out of for their Pina Colada Bar.

No Money Weekend
Maximum fun on minimum funds - your cheapskate's guide to the weekend.. Money can buy booze and gig tickets and movies and tasty food, all of our standard weekend-go tos, but money can't buy the thrill you'll get skating along the ocean's edge under the stars, experiencing the sweat and passion of live punk in someone's backyard, or the feel-good endorphins that come from watching puppies going insane. Welcome to your $0 weekend. (Image: James Whineray) NIGHT SKATE THE WEST COAST When I was in high school one of my favourite things to do on the weekend was to catch public transport to skate parks with group of friends. While it may not have been that many years ago, I’m fairly sure if I were to throw myself over a set of stairs on my skateboard these days, it would only result in me hurting myself, but that doesn’t mean I doesn’t mean I don’t still enjoy the occasional skate. While it may be dominated by cyclists and mums with prams by day, the coast road between Trigg and Hillarys is

WAM Conference Wrap
WAM Conference: Things We Learned This Weekend.. WAM Festival wasn't just about the awards and block parties - the WAM Conference chalked up a successful two day stint of incredible knowledge-sharing this weekend. Over Friday and Saturday, curious music fans, band members, producers, music journalists, managers, bookers, label owners and more gave up their free time to jump into some lecture theatres and hear experts from all over Australia have a chinwag about hot topics in the music industry, as well as share their practical insider tips. It was kind of like a voluntary music university! Big props out to WAM for putting together such a relevant and stimulating program of panels and giving us a leg up on our never-ending journey of discovery. We relayed the best truth bombs to those playing at home via our live Twitter stream (follow us HERE) - here’s some of the stuff that really stuck with us:  Despite popular opinion, getting your music played on triple j is not going to ‘make or b
