Album Review: We Set Sail - Feel Nothing

"There's not a lot to break up these fairly likeable songs."

Brisbane five-piece We Set Sail have evoked the heyday of '90s post-rock with their second album.

While there's plenty to like if this shoegazey sound floats your boat, there are a few things going on that make Feel Nothing feel a bit stuck in the mud. Straight rock beats, building, fuzzy guitars, raw vocals — everything that's needed to take one straight back to the cynicism of 1994 is present throughout. Awesome wiry bass and atmospherics in This Machine Destroys Everything! and the naive yearning in Snails render them standouts, but on the whole there's not a lot to break up these fairly likeable songs to make for a rock solid album.
