Theophilus London has teamed up with Menahan Street Band for their track 'Rio'. Check out the clip by Tim Cruz to accompany this sweet jam.
Brooklyn artist THEOPHILUS LONDON has recently teamed up with MENAHAN STREET BAND for their collaborative track 'Rio'. From what we've heard thus far, it's a pretty damn good song, thanks to the perfect pairing of such musicians. To strengthen the vibe that 'Rio' emits, the track's video clip has been released and live for the past week.
The sound of 'Rio' is pretty old school due to its robust, cinematic approach it has going on. Send your thanks to Menahan Street Band for such good noise as they've undoubtedly influenced this through their distinct sound. The use of brass and string instruments take it to a place outside of our current era respectfully. Throw in Theophilus London's lyricism and vocals and the track falls together perfectly.
Directed by Tim Cruz, the clip keeps us inside this contextual frame, as we tour through an old, swanky bar where we eventually meet a room full of people drinking and chatting by the band's live performance. Through the costumes, props and setting, we're suddenly inside a 1950s film noir movie - just without the crime.
