Album Review: Warmth Crashes In - World Driving Champion

An exploratory and highly listenable EP.

Plucky alt.rock opener, Turbo Morris, commences with the recording of an old-fashioned car racing commentator while drums and apprehensive bass enter. This leads into an experimental, frenetic soundscape, as if Tron was set on a racetrack, rounding out with what sounds like the opening of Baba O'Reilly. Slacker, psych-rock highlight, Leave It All Behind, grinds along via sludgy bass and spacey, bent-out organ sounds. Engrossing, industrial-pop closer, Take The Edge Off, features commanding, futuristic vocals with an effective mix of electronic elements and guitar. An exploratory and highly listenable EP. They play Boney 30 Nov.
