"They're still chasing a distinctive personality, but Augmentation proves a solid first outing."

It's often effortless, churlish even, to continually play "spot the influence" when analysing most debut releases.

Although derivative, if an initial recording suggests adequate promise some latitude can be allowed, a sentiment applicable here. One can note points of reference throughout these Sydney metallers' inaugural EP. The electro melodic metalcore utilises likes of Scar Symmetry, Meshuggah and Mnemic as touchstones, fusing infectious groove riffs off-set by tasty synth-driven soundscapes and ambient clean guitar tones. Meanwhile, the frontman of another detectable influence, Soilwork's 'Speed' Strid adds guest polish. They're still chasing a distinctive personality, but Augmentation proves a solid first outing.
