Michael Collins and vocalist Sasha Desree’s rather obvious fascination with ‘70s soul, funk, R&B and disco serves as an inspirational starting point for their debut album.

The duo strips away the layers, eliminating the superfluous, deconstructing as they drill down to the basic essence of these grooves. The results provide a compelling new angle on the whole soul revival, putting a more contemporaneous spin on the idiom rather than just seeking to relive the past by recreating vintage sounds. Silk Rhodes deal a brilliant reinvention of some classic sounds, creating something compellingly new in the process.
